Mary Eileen Hare CSJ was the oldest child of Edward Hare and Esther McElroy. She was born in St. Louis, MO on May 8, 1928. She joined the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet in 1946. She served as a teacher, librarian, and retreat director, working in Michigan, Indiana, and Missouri.
Sr. Mary died of cancer on September 20, 1999 in Mehlville, MO. She was originally buried at Nazareth Cemetery on the grounds of Nazareth Nursing Home in Melhville, but around 2009, all of the Sisters' remains were moved to Resurrection Cemetery where she is now at rest.
