Edward Francis Hare, Jr. was the only son of Etta Sweetin and Edward Hare. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on February 10, 1904. In 1927, he married Esther McElroy.
The couple had four children, all of whom were named Mary:

Edward was a machinist and worked for McDonnell Aircraft before its merger to become McDonnell-Douglas. He died on June 1, 1979 in St. Louis, MO. He was buried with his wife at Calvary Cemetery.
