Thomas Joseph Doherty was July 30, 1929. His parents were John Edward Doherty and Myrtle Chopp. They had recently moved to St. Louis from Chicago. He was named in honor of his grandfather Joseph Thomas Chopp. He attended high school at CBC. In 1945, he was his homeroom treasurer. The homeroom secretary was the Aurelius Henke, the older brother of his future bride, Mary Irma Henke. His sophomore yearbook photo is below.
