Owen Doherty was born on August 16, 1895 to Katherine Moran and Denis Doherty. He was baptized on September 1 at St. Bernard Church. Very little is known about Owen's life. He died tragically on March 18, 1908 at the age of 12.
A number of newspapers ran a story on his death, but the accuracy of them can not be confirmed. The suggestion that he was the bread winner for his family is unlikely to be true. Even if his father had gone away for a time, he had two older brothers and an older sister. The 1910 Census shows all of the remaining Doherty's living together and his obituary names both his parents.
Owen's funeral was held on March 20 at Visitation Church. He was buried at Mount Olivet Cemetery. His parents and older sister would later be buried beside him.
