Catharine Niehaus (Nonie) celebrated her 21st birthday in a big way. She got married! On a Wednesday morning, 85 years ago today, Catharine married Peter William Herzog at Our Lady of Lourdes Church. The wedding was important enough, or early enough in the morning, that the evening edition of the St. Louis Post Dispatch wrote up the event that same day. The next day the paper published a photo of the bride and groom just before they left the church. The photo and the write-up are featured below. Today would also be Nonie's 106th Birthday.
